50 Street Rail Trestle Construction
Overview
The City has entered into an agreement with CN Railway to replace the existing wooden underpass trestle structure on 50 Street south of 44 Avenue with a steel structure wide enough to accommodate the safe passage of single lane two way vehicle traffic under the trestle. A pedestrian sidewalk will be provided on the west side of the roadway.
In 2009, the City replaced a section of the existing watermain, approximately 200 metres on either side of the trestle. In conjunction with this work the roadway was lowered at the trestle to provide adequate vehicle clearance under the structure (in the order of 4.7 meters). The roadway will remain gravel base until 2010.
